Earlier this year we learned that the critically-acclaimed comedy, Grace and Frankie, will have its sequel, and Netflix has now officially confirmed the release date of it. Season 5 of the show starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, is set to be premiered on 18th January, 2019.
Benjamin Le Day, a formidable and quick-witted adversary who faces off with main characters, will be played by Primetime Emmy Award winner RuPaul, and he will be a guest star in the fifth season.
After the third season, the show had nine major television nominations, such as Primetime Emmy Award and Screen Actor Guild Award nominations for both of the lead actresses, a Writers Guild Award nomination, a NAACP Image Award nomination, a Costume Designers Guild and two Makeup and Hairstyling Award nominations.
The show tells a story about two women whose lives are turned upside down after being left by their husbands, exposing themselves as gay men and falling in love with each other. After everything, Grace and Frankie form an unbreakable bond, facing their futures jointly, discovering the true definition of “family” together with their ex-husbands and children.
Friends’ producer, Marta Kauffman, is executive producer of this show too, partnering up with Howard J. Morris. Brooklyn Decker, Ethan Embry, June Diane Raphael and Baron Vaughn are the cast of the show, next to the main veteran actresses, Fonda and Tomlin. Many celebrities, such as Christine Lahti, Corbin Bernsen, Brian Benben, Nora Dunn, Rita Moreno and Peter Gallagher, have appeared in the show as guest stars.
