Having seen Fast and Furious 8, we are more than excited to watch Fast and Furious 9 which is already in the making. Scheduled for April 19, 2019, we can’t wait to see who is in, who is out, and what is next to happen.
According to Vin Diesel and Chris Morgan, the writer, Fast and Furious 8 is the first of the final trilogy of the franchise. So what can we expect in the 9th installment?
Here are some of our predictions for Fast and Furious 9.
1. Hobbs is retired
In the final scene of Fast and Furious 8, we saw that Hobbs was offered his old law enforcement job back, but he doesn’t accept it, saying he has retired.
What does this mean? Another good actor gone from the franchise?
Just because he didn’t accept his old job back, it doesn’t mean that he is out.
We would definitely like to see him again in Fast and Furious 9, but of course with more Dom-Hobbs scenes. After The Rock and Vin Diesel’s alleged feud, we haven’t seen them sharing a screen together, but we hope now that will change for the sake of the film.
2. The Shaws
Now that Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw became a member of Dom’s family, after saving his daughter from Cipher’s cronies, seems like all of his previous crimes, especially killing Han, have been forgotten.
As a cherry on top, he is not alone. His mother, Peggy Mitchell played by Helen Mirren, and his bother Owen Shaw played by Luke Evans are there to complete the trio.
Will this evil trio continue to be evil, or will they redeem and help Dom’s family to fight some bigger villains, is to be seen.
3. Han and Elena, killed and forgotten
The deaths of Han, who as killed by Deckard Shaw and beloved Dom’s wife and mother of his son, Elena, seem to be forgotten.
We hope that in Fast and Furious 9, someone questions Deckard about him killing Han in Tokyo, and how is his brother involved. As he saved Dom’s baby, seems like Deckard’s killing Han is forgotten and his redemption is accepted.
We didn’t even see that the family mourns Han and Elena. We hope everything will be cleared in the 9th installment.
4. Dom’s baby
After Elena’s death, Dom and Letty are going to take care of his son Brian. We are not really sure how will baby fit in, and we definitely don’t want a big-time split, where the baby is not going to be a baby anymore.
Considering the fact that Dom’s sister Mia and Brian are still somewhere in the film, we think he might just leave the baby to Mia to take care of it.
Wait and see.
5. Cipher enacts her revenge
Cipher played by Charlize Theron was the villain in Fast and Furious 8, and as some bad characters turn into good at some point in the franchise, we hope she won’t. She is a very much ready for her revenge, and we hope that she is plotting something big.
Of course, we don’t think that she should be the main villain character again, but we do want her to be a part of the new film.
It would be great if they bring all the living villains together to fight Dom and his family, but that is up to writers and producers.
6. Hope to see Sean as a part of the family
We would love to see Lucas Black’s Sean Boswell back in the game after his cameo in the 7th installment.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t be a part of the 8th film due to his schedule conflict, but this time we hope that he will return and avenge Han’s death, as Dom seems to forget it. Fingers crossed.
7. What about Ramsey?
How did Ramsey become a member of the family? We are wondering too. Her role in the 7th installment was good, but in 8th, completely unnecessary.
They should definitely do something with her; or teach her to drive a car, as she is always a passenger, or to give her some other role rather than being a tech, as Tej is a very good one.
Hope they sort this thing out.
8. We want Scott Eastwood back for good
We are not sure if Scott Eastwood will be back in the franchise, but we really hope that his role as Eric Reisner is not forgotten. He was great and funny, and we hope that him and his boss Mr. Nobody will be back to engage in action.
His resemblance to Brain is crazy, so we hope this might be something about him being his half-brother or something. Really hope to have him in this part.
9. Eva Mendes to return, please
Dom’s family definitely needs more badass women now that Mia left and Elena is dead, and Ramsey is not that badass. Eva Mendes’ comeback would be perfect.
She played Monica Fuentes, a double agent in 2 Fast 2 Furious and later had a comeback in Fast Five. This time we hope she comes back to stay. Hobbs assistant maybe?
10. Dom’s parents
In the past installment, we learned that Dom’s father died in the last stock car race of the season, but we know nothing about his mother.
Dom has a big family, but now that he became a father, it would be great if we could find out more about his and Mia’s parents and childhood through some flashbacks or something similar.
We will all have to wait for April 19, 2019, to see if anything like this will happen.
