Great news for the fans of Top Gun! After lots of speculations, it has finally been confirmed that
Top Gun 2 is returning on big screens in July 2019. The sequel might be named Top Gun:
Maverick. The lead actor Tom Cruise is reprising his role in the movie to come, but the news on
cast doesn’t end there.
The movie premiere will be on July 12, 2019, and while we wait for the sequel to arrive, let’s
revise everything we know so far.
Title: Top Gun: Maverick
Release date: July 12, 2019
Cast: Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer
Director: Joseph Kosinski
THE CAST
Tom Cruise is returning as the United States Naval Aviator LT Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, the
role that helped him on his way to becoming a major star in Hollywood. His greatest rival, Tom
“Iceman” Kazansky, will be assigned to Val Kilmer one more time. The actor Miles Teller will,
according to the rumors, be given the part of the son of Maverick’s former wingman, Goose, the
role that was carried out by Anthony Edwards in the first Top Gun.
It hasn’t been announced whether or not some other characters from the first movie are returning
to reprise their roles.
THE PLOT
Paramount Pictures is very secretive when it comes to the story of the sequel. However, rumors
that circulate suggest that the film is going delve into the relationship between human pilots and
unmanned drones. If we are to judge by the movie’s title, Top Gun: Maverick, the sequel will
most likely focus on Pete “Maverick” Mitchell.
