Long breaks are known to be taken in between seasons of Rick and Morty. Fans are patiently waiting for its return. After the last season ended, there had been contract difficulties for the new one, but it seems those have been straightened out.
Justin Roiland, series co-creator, made it official with an Instagram post that there would be 70 more episodes of Rick and Morty, meaning there would be seven more seasons of the show.
“Adult Swim has made a long-term overall deal with the creators that will include 70 new episodes of the critically acclaimed series that follows a sociopathic genius scientist who drags his inherently timid grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the Universe”, reads from the official word from the network.

Rick and Morty Season 4 Release Date
So we know for sure that season 4 is expected, but we do not have an official date. Writers haven’t even start to write the fourth season yet, so the wait will be longer than usual, according to writer Ryan Ridley.
“I know how long this show takes to write, let alone animate. I’d be surprised if there was a fourth season on the air anytime sooner than 2019… late 2019”, Ridley says.
New Episodes’ Details
The last season, which is third season, was originally set to have 14 episodes, but it had 10, because of production’s self-described perfectionist tendencies. Dan Harmon talked to Entertainment Weekly about being optimistic when it comes to filling out a larger episode order for Season 4.
“I mostly blame myself for doing 10 instead of 14. I’m still learning how to do the show efficiently while catering to the perfectionist in all of us. I would like to think I’ve learned enough from my mistakes in season 3 that we could definitely do 14 now, but then I have to say, ‘Yeah but you’re the guy who says we can do 14 who turned out to be wrong, so we’re not listening to you now.’ …I think the audience would vote unanimously for the idea of 14 episodes instead of 10 on the condition that 4 of them would be [Purge Planet level] episodes”, Harmon explains.
We expect more news about Season 4 soon, and we will keep you updated.
