Avengers 4 is the last film for Phase 3 of MCU

Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe lasted for 10 years and it’s time for its end to come. The Avengers 4 will be the wrap of this phase and seeing Avengers: Infinity War, we can only imagine what will happen in Avengers 4. If you haven’t seen the 3rd installment of the film, we are warning you there will be some spoilers included in this text.

The Russo Brothers, together with Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus tried to prepare MCU fans for some shocking scenes, but deaths of many characters really surprised us all, some of which were very difficult to watch. Now that Thanos is having all the Infinity Stones and destroying everything with a snap of his fingers, we are expecting that dark times are yet to come.

Knowing that Avengers 4 will end Phase 3 of the MCU as we know it, James Gunn has stated how Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will start the Phase 4.

What do we know about Avengers 4 before it hits the big screens

McFeely, Markus, and the Russo Brothers kept the Infinity War plot a secret for a long time, even hiding it from those actors, who have been known for accidentally leaking the secrets to the fans. They were also giving them some fake scripts to prevent the leak. No one even saw a final cut of the film before the world premiere. We will not be surprised if they do the same with Avengers 4.

But before the release of Avengers 4, MCU will release two more films: Ant-Man 2 and Captain Marvel. Even though these projects are not out yet, they will have some meaningful ties to the movie. We already got a tease that Captain Marvel might be in 4th installment at the end of the Infinity War, but we will discuss that later.

Ant-Man, aka Scott Lang, was left out of the Infinity War together with some other characters, which brings up the questions of what will be their role in this installment.

Avengers 4 Release Date?

Source:express.co.uk

Unless Marvel Studio and Disney don’t push the release date as they did with the Infinity War, we can expect Avengers 4 to be released on May 3rd, 2019.

We still don’t know how it will be called and the name is a main topic at the moment. Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios boss, officially said that film won’t be titled as Infinity Gauntlet, and with Russo Brothers saying that Avengers 4 title will speak to the heart of the story, fans have some of their theories. One of their favorite options is Avengers: Endgame because it is mentioned in Infinity War by Doctor Strange as well as in Age of Ultron by Tony Stark. Avengers: Disassembled is also suggested as a possibility, which will be a connection to the comic.

Thanos will return

Many MCU fans stayed after the Infinity War credit to see the note that Avengers will be back. Instead, they were treated to a post-credit scene where Nick Fury, played by Samuel L. Jackson, sends a message to Captain Marvel before turning into ashes. The Russo Brothers played a dirty trick saying “Thanos will return,” so we definitely know he will be back snapping his fingers, but we are not really sure about all Avengers.

Captain Marvel is coming

Even though the Russo Brothers had told MCU fans that Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, won’t be in Infinity War, many were sad about her absence. But as we already know that Nick Fury send her a message at the end of the Infinity War, we surely know that she will have a substantial role in Avengers 4, bringing a military background with her.

Some characters who died will come back

Source:zimbio.com

Thanks to pictures from the set we were able to see, it is clear that some characters who died in Infinity War will come back. It is not sure if they’ll be back in flashbacks or some time travel that will probably be involved, or even in some parallel universe. Tom Hiddleston, Paul Bettany, and Zoe Saldana were spotted on the set, so it seems that even those who had their final deaths are coming back in some way. Dave Bautista has confirmed that Drax and Star-Lord will be back for Avengers 4, and even though screenwriters Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus have said that these deaths are final, we will have to wait to see what will be the role of these characters.

There will be some time travel

Again, thanks to some set photos we were able to see that some exploration through time and space will be involved. Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, and Robert Downey Jr. were spotted in New York, dressed in the costumes from Avengers, with hairstyles from the specific period when the Battle of New York happened. One thing, though, that was different from the last Battle of New York was the appearance of Scott Lang, aka Ant-Man. Also, some additional devices were on their hands, so those are probably devices invented by Hank Pym to navigate the Quantum Realm.

Ant-Man and the Quantum Realm

In Ant-Man 2 promotional footage, Hank Pym shows off a vehicle that will enable safe travel in the Quantum Realm, and it will probably be a significant factor. It will apparently help characters to go through time and space, and reincarnate some scenes like the Battle for New York. Captain Marvel is also connected to Quantum Realm.

Going back but also forward

Some leaked set photos shows Tony Stark with lighter hair and wearing a S.H.I.E.L.D. uniform. It is just a speculation, but we think that Avengers might start with a jump of several years, as they probably couldn’t regroup after losing half of the universe with Thanos snapping fingers.

Clint Barton will return as Ronin

Source:cbr.com

Jeremy Renner was missing from Infinity War, but we were able to see him on the set of the Avengers 4 in a new suit that closely resembles his Ronin costume from the comics. There was also a scene that was filmed in Japan, and as Scarlet Johansson was spotted in Japan, we believe that Clint Barton was hiding there and Black Widow traveled across the sea to get his help. It will be a great thing to have him back as he was missed in Infinity War, and we hope his role will change some things.

Will Quicksilver return?

Source:movieweb.com

Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Quicksilver will probably be back for Avengers 4. Not really sure what will be his or any other deceased character’s role in this film, but we think that time and space traveling, or flashbacks could play a major role in this installment.

Every MCU character in a massive scene

Source:heroichollywood.com

Even when promoting the Avengers: Infinity War, Sebastian Stan talked about a something that was thought to be a spoiler for that sequel, but as we already saw, that scene was not in the Avengers 3. It is now believed that the huge scene, involving every MCU character, including those who were killed, plus Captain Marvel together with Janet van Dyne, will happen in the Avengers 4.

“There was one scene, I think, we had where everybody was there. I can’t really talk about that scene, but I knew it took them three months in planning this scene to have everyone there. You look around and you just saw everyone from Samuel L. Jackson to Michael Douglas to Michelle Pfeiffer. Everybody was there.”

It won’t reverse all events of Infinity War

Source:canada.com

What happened in the Infinity War stays in Infinity War. Well, not everything. According to Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus, Avengers 4 will revise some but not all events that occurred in Infinity War. They also said that deaths are real and that fans should not hope for some miracle, which was also what the Russo Brothers warned before Avengers 3. This puts some shade on time travel theories, but also there is one that Thanos caused a second Big Bang, and created a parallel universe. According to Chris Hemsworth, the Avengers 4 will be more shocking than Infinity War.

McFeely said this about the deaths in the Avengers 4

Source:denofgeek.com

“Avengers 4 doesn’t do what you think it does. It is a different movie than you think it is. Also… (the deaths are) real. I just want to tell you it’s real, and the sooner you accept that, the sooner you will be able to move on to the next stage of grief.”

Another Jim Starlin-created character involved

Source:moviedash.com

Jim Starlin revealed that another of his characters would appear in Avengers 4, but he didn’t say which one. Some speculations say that this might be Thanos’ father A’lars or his brother Eros, aka Starfox. Characters that surely won’t appear are Lady Death and Adam Warlock.

Avengers 4 trailer

Source:movieweb.com

We will have to wait quite a while before seeing a trailer or any footage of Avengers 4. As we already said, the name is still unknown, and we will also have to wait for that too. We hope to see a teaser trailer released by the end of the year, but as the public hasn’t seen anything of Avengers 3 until November, we think that Marvel Studios will follow the same pattern and leave us in the dark for a very long time.

When will Avengers 4 tickets go on sale?

Source:whatculture.com

If Marvel Studios continues to follow the same pattern as Infinity War, we think that the promotional campaign will start 6 weeks before the premiere. This also depends on how much information about the movie is leaked online, and also if the studio decides to push the release date up. It is all up to Marvel Studios to shock us again for their last film in of the Phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
