Even though it’s been around two years since it was announced at the “Code Geass: Llouch of the Rebellion: Anniversary of a Miracle” event that there will be a season 3 of “Code Geass” we still do not have a confirmed release date.

A video that promotes the Code Geass Season 3 was posted by the Japanese animation studio Sunrise. They also released the film series consisting of three part that was announced during the same event where “Lelouch of the Resurrection” was.

That film series consist of “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion I – Initiation,” “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion II – Transgression,” and “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion III – Glorification.“ They made it a theatrical remake based on the first two seasons. The reason for making the film series is the fact it has been a long while since the first two seasons have aired. That way the audience will have something to look forward to before season 3 comes out.

Even though 2017 was the targetted year for season 3 to come out in, that didn’t happen. Even the three part movies were set to come out later.

The only thing that has really been confirmed is the title of season 3 – “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection.” The cast that played the first two seasons will return as will it’s director Goro Taniguchi.
The information that was let out about season 3 is that it will be set a few years Zero Requiem. In the promo we can see Lelouch alive and well even though he died in season 2. The title of season 3 could be a clue about the events that will go on in season 3 and Lelouch’s return, but for now we can only speculate about that.
