Carlos Ray Norris, better known as Chuck Norris, is the legendary American actor and martial artist. He is best known for his hit TV series “Walker, Texas Ranger”. He was born on March 10, 1942, in Ryan Oklahoma, but moved to California while very young. He attended North Torrance High School, and later served as an Air Policeman in the Air Force, from 1958 until 1962.
In the ‘60s, Norris opened karate schools and taught some celebrities. Some of them were Bob Barker, Steve McQueen, and Priscilla Presley. He has always been a fierce competitor and took part in many different martial arts tournaments and competitions. His first championship came in 1968 when he won the Professional Middleweight Karate title. He defended it for the next six years. In 1990, he earned the 8th Degree Black Belt Grand Master in Tae Kwon Do, and also developed his own fighting style. It is called hun Kuk Do. In 2000, Norris received the Golden Lifetime Achievement Award from the World Karate Union, a prestigious honor.
His big screen debut came in 1969 when he appeared in “The Wrecking Crew”. In 1972, he co-starred in “Way of the Dragon” with Bruce Lee, where they have a scene squaring off. Norris loses in the movie. His first starring role was John Dawes in the 1977 action film called “Breaker! Breaker!”. After this came the “Missing in Action” movies, a great commercial success, other famous movies where he stared include “Code of Silence” from 1985, “The Delta Force” from 1986, and “Firewalker,” also from 1986. The already mentioned TV series “Walker, Texas Ranger” aired on CBS for eight seasons, from 1993 to 2001.
