Black Love is a docu-series that airs on Oprah’s OWN channel, from filmmakers Codie Elaine Oliver and Tommy Oliver. There is also Black Love, which is available live on blacklove.com and includes episode clips from couples featured on the show on a multi-city tour.
The documentary series follows couples who discuss their experiences in their marriages and relationships. When Black Love debuted on OWN in 2017, it was the most-viewed unscripted debut of a series in the history of the network.
Along with being available on OWN, you can also watch Black Love on Prime Video.
The stories and experiences shared by the featured couples are authentic, and at times can be raw or even embarrassing,but the authenticity seems to have resonated with audiences.

Amby is a 2015 documentary about the life and the death of Amy Winehouse. The documentary takes a look at Winehouse’s long struggle with substance abuse that led to her eventual death. The movie begins in 1998 and features a home video of Amy Winehouse singing at a friend’s birthday party. It then moves through her life, starting with her childhood, her career, and then going into her problematic relationships, her drug and alcohol abuse and her death in 2011.
The documentary includes interviews with more than 100 friends and family members of Winehouse, and there is also a lot of unseen footage from personal video recordings.
Many media outlets and film critics praised Amy.
Abducted in Plain Sight

Abducted in Plain Sight is a chilling true crime-style documentary that was produced by Top Knot Films and then released by Netflix earlier this year.
Abducted in Plain Sight is the story of Jan Broberg Felt who was kidnapped by her neighbor in Idaho in the 1970s. The Broberg family became close with their neighborhood named Robert Berchtold, and his wife and kids. They all went to church together,and the families frequently spent time together.
Berchtold became obsessed with a 12-year-old Jan, and then documentary then goes on to talk about how he groomed and brainwashed her before kidnapping her. Berchtoldwas arrested in Mexico, but only served ten days of jail time.
Viewers have become fascinated with the documentary, and many feel it’s a story too crazy to be true, but it is, and Jan Broberg herself is featured in the film.
Our Planet
Our Planet was just released at the start of April, and it’s from the team that did the Planet Earth series. This series is on Netflix,and it features a look at the effects of climate change, such as glacier calving.
Our Planet can be difficult at times because of the scenes showing the effects of climate change, but it also features beautiful natural scenery.
The series looks first at the world’s natural diversity, and then from there, each episode features a different theme including frozen worlds, the seas, jungles,and fresh water.
Fyre
If you haven’t seen it yet, the Netflix documentary Fyre is entertaining, to say the least, and in a lighter way than most documentaries. Fyre looks at the ill-fated Fyre Festival. The documentary covers Billy McFarlane and his partner Ja Rule. Both work to sell an unattainable lifestyle, primarily to people who thrive on ensuring they have the best Instagram feed.
There are some great interviews, and it’s an in-depth look at the hoax festival that never was.
