Movie Reviews

We have been at home for quite a long time– and one of our ways to cope is to clean, declutter, and entertain ourselves with movies.  But, no matter how cleaning and decluttering makes us feel productive, it is a daunting task. But, if cleaning is too tiring for you these past days– I’m not judging.

Whether you feel drained from the deep house cleaning last week or the pandemic situation has drained your energy. There’s a way around this. Hire a maid service like Liox to do the chores, including laundry. Take a day off from household chores.

You might be on your way to call cleaning services, or you just finished cleaning– go over these movies you will binge-watch after cleaning.

1.  Trese (2021)

If you are a Filipino or love the Philippines, Trese should be on your list. It is one of the first Philippine anime-influenced TV series. You would be surprised at how sharp and crisp the animation is– it feels like DC cartoons!

2.  One Night in Miami (2020)

Looking for inspiration? Take a peek at how the biggest figures in activism, music, and sports gather to celebrate some of the major defeats in boxing history. As it takes you down memory lane, it teaches you to embrace the spirit of the people in the plot. The story will remind you that there’s a lot of things to do in life.

3.  Parasite (Gisaengchung) (2019)

Ah, it is pretty timely to watch Parasite in this pandemic. The plot hits the core. It discusses how poverty is someone else’s reality and how it is nonexistential to the rich.

It’s another masterpiece from a South Korean director, Bong Joon Ho. How he ultimately made the scene from scratch and worked with cinematography experts to make everything perfect.

4.  Avengers: Endgame (2019)

I bet you have seen this movie at the theatres! But, if you haven’t, then it is a must-watch, or you will miss half of MCU. The Avengers: Endgame continues the story of Thanos turning the universe into ruins. Watching your favorite superheroes fight against the mad titan makes you nervous. The movie will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions– yep! You might bawl your eyes– again.

5.  Marriage Story (2019)

A divorce plot might not be the best movie to watch after cleaning– especially if house cleaning stirs the household! Kidding aside. The story of Nicole and Charlie is something to pry on. Watching the movie Marriage Story brings you on a rollercoaster of emotions. It will give you laughter and sadness.

6.  The Handmaiden (2016)

The Handmaiden was a critically-acclaimed film back in 2016. If you wish to be surprised by the menacing yet hilarious set of the movie, this is a good pick.

Plot: A lesbian love story back in the 1930s in Korea. The setting is dated back to the Japanese occupation in Korea. A young woman from a poor family tries to help a conman marry a Japanese heiress. However, the sinister started when the young woman began to become the handmaiden of the Japanese heiress.

Get into the twisty and absorbing ride of the Handmaiden!

7.  Silver Linings Playbook (2012)

After watching this movie, you might wonder– how come it’s under RomCom? Well, the romance is there. But the comedy? I don’t think so. Silver Linings Playbook touches on a serious topic. It shows the reality of a person who is suffering from mental illness.

Although the movie is interesting, those dealing with mental illness might not receive the narrative well. But, if you are curious enough and interested in exploring mental illness, watching this movie after a long cleaning session might help clear your mind.

But, wait– if you have not cleaned yet and you are looking for some after-cleaning movies to chill on. Then, start your cleaning session with motivation from these Netflix shows.
